Intuitive Surgical’s Anthony Jarc presents “Robot-assisted Surgery: A Platform for New Technologies and Algorithms” as part of the IRIM Robotics Seminar Series. The event will be held in the GTMI Auditorium from 12-1 p.m. and is open to the public.

Abstract

Intuitive Surgical is the global leader in the rapidly emerging field of robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery. To date, skilled surgeons using da Vinci Systems have performed more than 3 million minimally invasive procedures worldwide. In this talk, Jarc will introduce the da Vinci Surgical System and highlight the many exciting opportunities for development of advanced technologies.

Bio

Anthony Jarc is the manager of Research and Data Science at Intuitive Surgical, Inc. His research examines advanced algorithms and technologies focused on surgeon training and workflow in robot-assisted surgery. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University.
