Remembering Mike Stilman
Invited Speakers—Celebrating Mike Stilman and His WorkGeorgia Tech’s College of Computing, School of Interactive Computing, and the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines (IRIM) will host a celebration of Mike Stilman and his work in humanoid robotics on Friday, November 7.
Mike, an assistant professor at Tech and an emerging leader in humanoid robotics research, died following an accident at his Atlanta home on Tuesday, May 6. He had been awarded tenure shortly before his death and was scheduled to be promoted to associate professor effective Aug. 16. Mike joined the Tech faculty in 2008 after receiving his Ph.D. in robotics from the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University.
Colleagues from Georgia Tech and members of the robotics community at large will gather to celebrate Mike’s research accomplishments. Invited guest speakers include his former advisors and collaborators.
The event is open to the public.
