There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

You are invited to attend the Center for Organic Photonics & Electronics (COPE) Seminar on Friday, March 3, 2006. The seminar will be held at the Student Center in the Piedmont Room (located across from the Burdell Store) from 3:45pm to 5:00pm. Refreshments will be served from 3:45pm to 4pm. (Please note the location changed to the Student Center)
Speaker:
Professor Robert J. Twieg
Kent State University, Chemistry Department
Organic Materials with Novel Optical and Electronic Properties
"Synthesis, Properties and Applications of Dicyanomethylenedihydrofuran (DCDHF) Single Molecule Fluorophores"
Aspects of research on the single molecule fluorophore class of DCDHF dyes will be discussed. The presentation will cover the history and design of the fluorophores, synthetic methodology for their preparation,structure-function photophysical relationships, single molecule evaluation and some examples of applications in biological systems.
Joe Perry from the School of Chemistry & Biochemistry will be hosting the seminar. We look forward to seeing you at the Seminar!
