There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

N-Heterocyclic Carbene Complexes of the Late Transition Metals: Synthetic and Catalytic Studies
N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) are a versatile class of ligand for processes involving transition metals. Their very strong trans-effect favors the formation of complexes with unusually low coordination numbers. This talk describes the synthesis of a series of linear complexes of the Group 11 metals, with the general formula (NHC)Mâ"X, and their application to processes such as carbonâ"fluorine bond formation, borylation, and carbon dioxide fixation; related complexes of other late transition metals will also be presented.
