Ms. Catherine Silvestri, an undergraduate in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry, is one of five recipients of the Institute Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award in Spring of 2007.
Working with Professor David Collard and graduate student Kurt Knoblock, Catherine studied stacked oligothiophenes as models for charge carriers in conjugated polymers. She has presented this work at conferences, and appeared as a coauthor on a recent publication in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.
Catherine is continuing undergraduate research in the group of Facundo Fernandez, working on new techniques in mass spectrometry. The award is sponsored by the Georgia Tech Research Corporation via the Georgia Tech President's Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program
