There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Three faculty in the School of Chemistry & Biochemistry have been elected into the inaugural group of American Chemical Society Fellows - Professors Bredas, El-Sayed, and Tolbert. These three were nominated on the basis of their research accomplishments and their service to the ACS as journal editors.
The ACS Fellows Program was created by the Board of Directors in December 2008 'to recognize members of the American Chemical Society for outstanding achievements in and contributions to Science, the Profession, and the Society.' Unlike ACS national awards, the distinguished honor of a Fellows designation will go to those who have distinguished themselves in multiple areas, including promoting the science, the profession, and service to the American Chemical Society. Ultimately, the body of Fellows is intended to reach approximately 1-2% of ACS membership.
