OIE is excited to announce that the OPT sessions are now online!

There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. There are 5 easy steps to completing a successful OPT application.
  1. Watch the OPT Tutorial
  2. Complete The Final Assessment (you will find this link at the end of the video)
  3. Make an appointment to apply for OPT with an OPT advisor
  4. Mail the OPT application to USCIS
  5. Begin your OPT
You will log in using your GT Username to take the Final Assessment. You must score at least a 90%, or you will be required to retake the assessment.
  • February 6 is the first day you may apply for OPT if you are completing spring 2012.
  • May 5 is the first day you may apply for OPT if you are completing summer 2012.
  • September 16 is the first day you may apply for OPT if you are completing fall 2012.
