Summaries

Summary Sentence: Helping Students become Self-Directed Learners

Full Summary: Self-directed learning is a skill that can be learned.  TAs and future faculty will explore strategies they can use to assist students in becoming more self-directed in their learning.

This workshop is designed for graduate TAs and/or future faculty. We will discuss how to transition students from being dependent on their instructors to get and understand information to taking charge of their own learning process. This workshop will be interactive with several activities to allow TAs to brainstorm and implement straetgies to use in and outside of the classroom to create more self-directed student learners.
