Georgia Tech has organized its most "ambitious slate of events ever" this year to commemorate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Institute [and sponsors including Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts] has organized an 11-day celebration in honor of the Civil Rights icon. The activities, which include speakers and volunteer days, will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 11, and run through Saturday, Jan. 21. "As the nation celebrates the unveiling of the new monument honoring Dr. King on the Mall in Washington, D.C., it seems quite fitting that, as an academic institution dedicated to excellence in research and education, Georgia Tech should re-dedicate itself in a far more robust way to the enduring values and legacies of this native son," Tech said in a release.
