The Joseph Mayo Pettit Alumni Distinguished Service Award was presented to Geoffrey C. Gill, IM 64, vice president of Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown; Parker Holmes "Pete" Petit, ME 62, MS EM 64, chairman and CEO of Matria Corp.; William Turner, Mgt 43, advisory director of the WC Bradley Co.; and Thomas W. Ventulett III, BS 57, Arch 58, senior principal and director of design at Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback & Associates. The award is the highest honor bestowed by the Alumni Association for a lifetime of leadership, achievement and service to Georgia Tech and the community.

The Dean Griffin Community Service Award went to Wayne E. Kerr, Biol 73, MS Biol 74, who established a free medical and dental clinic for low-income families in Georgia's Rockdale County, and J. Lamar Reese Jr., IM 55, whose work on the Dougherty County School Board resulted in the panel naming a new magnet school in his honor.

Daren B. Pietsch, ME 91, was named the Outstanding Young Alumnus. During his tenure as president of the Golden Isles Georgia Tech Club in 2003-04, the group was recognized for recruiting, its local scholarship program, community involvement and Roll Call fund raising.

The designation of honorary alumnus was presented to Stephen L. Dickerson, Georgia Tech professor emeritus; John C. Dunn, editor of Georgia Tech Alumni Publications; and Anderson D. Smith, Regents professor and associate dean of the College of Sciences.

The awards were presented at a ceremony at the Atlanta History Center on March 17.
