Health Impact Assessment of the Aerotropolis Atlanta Brownfield Redevelopment Project: Review of the scope
Date:
Tuesday, October 5, 2010 | 7:30 - 9:00 AM
Location:
Center for Quality Growth and Regional Development
Georgia Institute of Technology
760 Spring Street, Suite 213 | Atlanta, GA 30308
This unique meeting of the Healthy Places Research Group will facilitate a discussion of work in progress. The topic is a health impact assessment (HIA) currently being conducted by the Center for Quality Growth and Regional Development (CQGRD) on the planned Aerotropolis Atlanta development. This 122-acre mixed-use project is on the site of the former Hapeville Ford Assembly Plant, adjacent to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Researchers from CQGRD will present the background and purpose of the health impact assessment, and the data collected from the community and other sources. They will then lead a discussion about the scope of the health impact assessment. Meeting participants will have an opportunity to discuss conflicts between community and public health priorities, study area variations, and the overall project strategy in a lively, interactive session.
