There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

Redox Regulation of Signal Transduction Pathways: Characterization of HyPer upon Treatment with H2O2
Oxidative stress plays a central role in biology and medicine, but little is known about its regulation and quantitative effects on intracellular signal transduction. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a stable reactive oxygen species (ROS) that has second messenger signaling properties. We use HyPer, a fluorescent H2O2 reporter protein, in order to visualize H2O2 production and investigate downstream signaling dynamics.

Exploring the Properties of Novel Olfactomedin Domains: Beyond Glaucoma-Associated Myocilin-Olfactomedin
The olfactomedin (OLF) domain is conserved among higher eukaryotes, and is implicated in diseases such as glaucoma and cancer. This talk will describe our ongoing efforts to characterize the OLF protein family by biophysical methods.
The Graduate and Post-Doc (GaP) Seminar Series is a weekly event of biotechnology related research presentations by two graduate students or post-docs of IBB and is co-sponsored by BME. It is held every Wednesday at 12:00pm in IBB 1128 and refreshments are provided. If your research group or department would like to present at future seminars, please contact Manu Platt, PhD.
