"Freedom Riders" is the first feature-length film about a courageous band of civil rights activist who called themselves the Freedom Riders. They challenged segregation in interstate transport in the American South during the spring and summer of 1961-The same year Georgia Tech Integrated. The attention the movement generated caused the federal government to take down the Jim Crow signs, allowing every American to travel freely.

Facilitating the discussion will be Georgia Tech alumna Kaitlyn Whiteside, who participated in the 2011 Student Freedom Ride, joining some of the original freedom riders as part of an intergenerational conversation about civic engagement.

NOTE: There will be two screenings of "Freedom Riders," at 11 AM and again at 6 PM.

This activity is part of the Georgia Tech Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, an initiative led by the Office of Institute Diversity.
