The 2011 Region Six Siemens Competition in Math, Science and Technology will take place at Georgia Tech and includes high school students from Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia and Puerto Rico. The Center for Education Integrating Science, Math and Computing (CEISMC) hosts the competition.
The Siemens Competition is the leading science and mathematics research-based competition for high school students. At the regional events, competitors create a poster presentation on their project, give a 12-minute oral presentation, and then undergo a rigorous question and answer session with a panel of judges. The 2011 lead judge is Georgia Tech's very own Joseph Montoya from the School of Biology.
All members of the Tech community are invited to attend the Siemens reception on Nov. 4 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Georgia Tech Hotel & Conference Center, Conference A Foyer, and the student oral presentations on Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Global Learning Center, amphitheater 222.
