Homecoming: Freshman Cake Race

There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. The Freshman Cake Race is a Georgia Tech tradition now in its hundredth year. Sponsored by the Ramblin' Reck Club, the race is approximately a half mile long and concludes near Bobby Dodd Stadium. The race was once mandatory, but it is now only highly encouraged that all freshmen participate.

The raceĀ is free of charge and cakes will be awarded to the winners for the male andĀ female races. All participants receive cupcakes. Check-in will be in front of Brittain Dining Hall from 6 to 6:20 a.m.
