The Design and Technologies for Healthy Aging welcomes Charlie Kemp, Assistant Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology, who will speak about "Mobile Manipulation for Healthcare".

The lecture meeting will be held on October 19th 9:30-11:30AM at Room 207 in the Health Systems Institute (HSI) Building, located at 828 West Peachtree Street, NW 2nd Floor Atlanta, GA 30332. Metered parking available at the address.

Robots have the potential to revolutionize healthcare by providing economical and reliable assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In this interactive talk, Charlie Kemp will give an overview of opportunities in this area and present research from his lab, the Healthcare Robotics Lab at Georgia Tech. He will also discuss his recent collaborative project, "Assistive Mobile Manipulation for Older Adults at Home", which involves a number of researchers and organizations at Georgia Tech, including Prof. Wendy Rogers, Dr. Tracy Mitzner, Brian Jones, the Human Factors and Aging Lab, and the Aware Home.

Charles C. Kemp is an Assistant Professor at Georgia Tech in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the School of Interactive Computing and the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech. He received a doctorate in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT in 2005, and his BS and MEng from MIT. He is a member of the Center for Robotics and Intelligent Machines at Georgia Tech (RIM@GT), IPaT, and the Health Systems Institute, which houses his lab, the Healthcare Robotics Lab (http://healthcare-robotics.com). Charlie's current research focuses on assistive robotics, autonomous mobile manipulation, and human-robot interaction (http://charliekemp.com).
