There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

Full Summary: Positive Recurrence for Diffusion Limits of Many-Server Queues

Abstract
We study stability properties of two specific diffusion processes: a high dimensional piecewise OU (Ornstein Uhlenbeck) process and a degenerate OU process. They arise from diffusion approximations for many-server queues that have phase-type service time distributions and allow for customer abandonment. We prove that they are positive recurrent and has unique stationary distribution under certain conditions. The proof techniques are based on constructing suitable quadratic Lyapunov functions. This is joint work with Prof. Jim Dai and Prof. Ton Dieker.
