Erato, Georgia Tech's journal of art and literature, will host a book reading by poets Beth Gylys and Jennifer Wheelock from 6 - 7 p.m. Mon., September 12.

Both award-winning poets on the local and national scene, Gylys and Wheelock will read from their most recent works. This event will take place in the Georgia Tech Library Neely Room on the first floor.

Currently, Gylys is a professor at Georgia State University. She has published two award winning collections of poetry: "Spot in the Dark" (Ohio State UP 2004) and "Bodies that Hum" (1999 Silverfish Review Press), and two chapbooks: "Matchbook" (La Vita Poetica 2007) and "Balloon Heart" (Wind Press 1998). She was awarded fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, The University of Cincinnati, and Syracuse University. Additionally, she has had work published in many journals including "Paris Review," "Antioch Review," "Kenyon Review," "Ploughshares," "Boston Review," and "The Southern Review."

The poetry of Jennifer Wheelock, who currently works at Emory University, has appeared in journals and anthologies, such as "River Styx," "Garbanzo," "The Peralta Press," "Atlanta Review," "The Emily Dickinson Award Anthology," and the online journal "Blaze." She placed third in the 2008 River Styx International Poetry Contest, was second-prize winner in the Art in the Air Poetry Contest in 2004, and a semi-finalist in the 2003 Steel Toe Books competition. Her poem "Feeding Francis Bacon" appeared in the book "Thirteen Ways of Looking for a Poem: A Guide to Writing Poetry," in the chapter on formal verse. She currently lives in Atlanta.
