We’re partnering with Georgia Tech Alumni Magazine to highlight a piece of Tech history. This issue’s topic: the French legacy.

The following excerpt is number 107 on the list “125 Pieces of Tech History,” featured in the September/October 2010 issue:

In 1898, the A. French Textile School was established and a year later the building was constructed. The school and building are named for the benefactor, a Pittsburgh millionaire who President Lyman Hall met while on vacation at a North Carolina resort. The French portrait in the archives is unsigned and undated.
