The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory presents a special seminar with Morten Jensen, associate professor of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery as well as biomedical engineering at University of Aarhus in Denmark.
After graduating with his Masters of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2000, Morten worked with National Instruments in the Business Development and Consulting Services groups. In 2005, he relocated to Denmark and received the PhD degree in Medicine from the University of Aarhus in 2008, and is currently employed at the Dept. of Biomedical Engineering and Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery at the University Hospital of Aarhus, Denmark. Morten’s research focus is on experimental cardiac surgery and he teaches engineering courses in the fields of hemodynamics, biofluids, cardiovascular modelling, biomechanics, medical instrumentation and virtual instrumentation. The results obtained from his research group are currently used in FDA guidelines for heart repair devices. He is appointed to the Danish Academy of Engineers and has won several prices for his work: In 2008 he received the Danish Society of Engineers Honorary Award of Excellence. He also holds the position as Director of Research for The Scandinavian School of Cardiovascular Technology and is serving on the Board of Directors at the Danish Society for Biomedical Engineering and the Danish Cardiovascular Research Academy. Morten has authored and co-authored 76 research publications (hereof 20 peer reviewed) and three patents.
