Team Curious Wins Imagine Cup MashUp Prize

Team Curious, a Georgia Tech pairing of a College of Computingalumna and a mechanical engineering student, is getting worldwiderecognition after winning the MashUp category of the 2009 Imagine Cupcompetition, sponsored by Microsoft Corp. Team Curious is the only U.S.group to receive first place honors in one of the nine invitationalcategories. Winners were announced July 7.

Members of Team Curious include Kathy Pham, a bachelor's and master'scomputing graduate, and Marc Pare, an undergraduate mechanicalengineering major. The program they developed aggregates informationfrom traditional news sources on the Web and ultimately presents anauthoritative view.

Team Curious was selected from a total of 444 students from 149 teamsrepresenting 70 countries and regions around the world. The Imagine Cup2009 Worldwide Finals were held in Cairo, Egypt, and included thefollowing categories: Software Design, Embedded Development, GameDevelopment, IT Challenge, Robotics and Algorithm, MashUp, Photography,Short Film and Design.
