There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Intel and Microsoft Corp. will invest $20 million over the next five years to fund software research at UC Berkeley and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to develop a new multicore chip that will put a slew of mini-processors, or cores, on a single sliver of silicon. This is a really new time in the history of computing, truly a paradigm shift, said David Bader, associate professor in the Computational Science and Engineering Division.
