GT Looks to Shift Unemployed IT Pros to Teaching

There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. The College of Computing is looking to transform economic lemons into educational lemonade by shifting unemployed technology professionals into teaching careers. Dubbed Operation Reboot, the program will combine with the Georgia Teacher Alternative Preparation Program and is designed prepare IT professionals to teach high school computer science. It kicked off Sept. 1 with an initial set of 30 technology workers and is expected to operate for the next three years.
