GT Researchers Work to Secure Cellphones

There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Assistant Professors Jonathon Giffin and Patrick Traynor have received a three-year $450,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to develop tools that improve the security of mobile devices and the networks on which they operate. Together with a team of graduate students, the two are developing methods of identifying and remotely repairing mobile devices that may be infected with viruses or other malware.
