A 26-year-old Georgia man left paralyzed by a car accident now can turn his thoughts into synthesized sounds, thanks to a Brain-Computer Interface (BCI). Associate Professor Melody Moore Jackson of Interactive Computing was part of the team that in 1998 implanted the first BCI-type electrode in a human patient's brain.
