DOE Awards Supercomputing Time

There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. P.K. Yeung, adjunct professor in Computational Science & Engineering, is principal investigator of a project that's received 20 million processor hours on the Cray XT supercomputer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The project, A Petascale Study of Turbulent Mixing in Stratified and Non-Stratified Flows, is one of 69 proposals awarded a record total of 1.6 billion processor hours by the Department of Energy's Office of Science.
