Summaries

Summary Sentence: The mission of the Center is to serve as a policy makerspace for Georgia Tech and partners to work collaboratively in need-based research to address socio-economic inequities in Atlanta and the state of Georgia.

Full Summary: No summary paragraph submitted.

The Center for Urban Research is a partnership between the Georgia Institute of Technology and the City of Atlanta Office of the Mayor, focused on collaborative solutions to address socio-economic inequities in urban areas—bringing academic expertise across the state to the work being done on the ground. The Center seeks to build mutually beneficial partnerships with university, community, non-profit and municipal leaders across the city; support community resiliency and sustainability; provide enhanced learning experiences for students; and catalyze collaborative research projects with direct impact on the city of Atlanta and state of Georgia.

The launch will open with remarks from key administrators from the Institute and a short vision statement from the Inaugural Director, David Edwards. The next session of the launch will focus on highlighting ongoing projects that demonstrate collaboration with faculty and practitioners on policy-relevant research. The last hour of the event will be a strategy session to discuss how we can collaborate to advance the goals of the Center on our campus. We will then invite everyone to join in a reception for informal conversation.

The event is open to all members of the Georgia Tech community.
