Georgia Tech's School of Industrial Design (SID) hosts a series of SID Open Talks. As a part of this Open Talk series, Ezio Manzini will give a lecture on sustainable city design.
The lecture discusses this scenario of proximity, showing how it has emerged from the grassroots social innovations of the past 20 years, and how, in some cities, it has become a reference for action, sometimes using the expression "15-minute city, with the creation of new proximity systems capable of responding to many, if not all, the daily needs of citizens."
Ezio Manzini is an honorary professor at Politecnico di Milano and the Chair Professor at University of the Arts in London. He is the founder of DESIS, an international network on design for social innovation and sustainability.
He is the author of several books, including —
Design, When Everybody Designs: An Introduction to Design for Social Innovation (2015)
Politics of the Everyday (2018)
