Leadership of the Future | Can You Make Sound Judgments in an AI Future? Presented by Georgia Tech Alumni Association in Collaboration with Georgia Tech Professional Education.
As societies and businesses continue to rely more heavily on AI to help increase efficiencies or guide decision-making, the role humans play in the process will shift but not lose importance. Jon Lindsay, associate professor in the School of Cybersecurity & Privacy and the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, argues that effective human leadership of such technology and decision-making is paramount. Lindsay has given popular lectures looking specifically at the continued necessity of human intervention with AI in warfare. He shares, “You need human sense-making to make moral, ethical, and intellectual decisions in an incredibly confusing, fraught, scary situation.”

Jon Lindsay is an associate professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs as well as the School of Cybersecurity and Privacy, which includes the Online Master of Science in Cybersecurity. He has authored multiple books and articles exploring the role of information technology and cybersecurity in international relations and military conflict. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.S. in computer science and B.S. in symbolic systems from Stanford University. He has also served in the U.S. Navy with assignments in Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.
