Abstract: Titan Robotics, Inc. is an advanced robotics manufacturing startup originating from research conducted at Carnegie Mellon University’s (CMU) National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC) on coordinated autonomous mobile robotics for large-scale industrial applications. This presentation will primarily cover Titan’s work in developing and deploying modern robotics systems for aerospace applications with high mix low volume workloads requiring flexibility for variations in processes and parts. The lessons learned and the challenges faced in the development and deployment of these robotics systems will be highlighted, along with offering perspective on where the emerging technology and industry is headed.  Attention will also be given to the aspects and experience of being a startup in the space.

Bio: Stuart Lawrence is the founding CEO and President of Titan Robotics, Inc. His focus is on the development and adoption of autonomous robotics as tools for manufacturing and industrial processes, not requiring advanced training to program and operate, leveraging innate human capability. He was a faculty member at CMU’s Robotics Institute, where he led award winning research, including the development of autonomous systems, mobile robotic platforms, perception systems, control architectures, and complex system integrations. His career has been focused on technology transition and commercialization, with extensive experience in the aerospace and defense industry, across diverse domains. Stuart earned a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University College of Engineering.
