We had the honor of hosting the first workshop for the Arabic Teachers Council of the South in partnership with the Atlanta Global Studies Center and ALIF Institute. 110 attendees from 47 different organizations (including Harvard University, Cornell University, University of Georgia, and Georgia State University) gathered over two days to discuss the conference topic "Fostering K20 Pipelines & Forging New Paths for the 21st Century." Our Arabic teachers worked dilligently to insure a warm, welcoming and productive environment for our guests, and were praised for their work on Amana's Arabic curriculum. Our very own Ms. Engy Abdalla sits on the Executive Committee for the Arabic Teachers Council of the South, and was, along with her Amana World Languages colleagues, hugely instrumental in making this event a success.
WORLD LANGUAGES AT AMANA
One of the unique core practices of ELeducation schools is a focus on global awareness and world language learning. At Amana, this is evidenced in our Arabic and French world languages program. Both Arabic and French are among the United Nations’ six official languages and are spoken by hundreds of millions of people around the world. Both are considered by educators and policymakers to be languages of economic and cultural significance.
