Ph.D. student Sanghyun HanSanghyun Han, a Ph.D. student in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, co-authored an issue brief on trilateral cooperation among the United States, South Korea (ROK), and Japan for the Atlantic Council’s Indo-Pacific Security Initiative housed within the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security.
Han’s contribution to “A Next-Generation Agenda for US-ROK-Japan Trilateral Cooperation” analyzes current science and technology cooperation among the three nations and discusses policy recommendations to help improve collaboration.
Han is affiliated with the Nunn School’s Center for International Strategy, Technology, and Policy. He also was part of the Council’s Next Generation Group, “rising American, South Korean, and Japanese junior- and mid-career experts who represent the next generation of policymakers, officials, and private-sector leaders who will operationalize trilateral cooperation over the course of their careers,” according to the Atlantic Council."
In December, Han participated in a virtual roundtable to discuss cooperation among the three nations in the areas of security and defense, science and technology, and global public goods. You can watch the discussion on YouTube.
“Based on the ideas raised during the roundtable discussions, the participants offered concrete and actionable recommendations for a next-generation US-ROK-Japan trilateral cooperation agenda with a particular emphasis on how policymakers of each country can work together to implement the agenda,” the Atlantic Council said.
Han’s research interests include emerging technology and statecraft, bridging international political economy and international security.
The Nunn School is a unit of the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts.
