There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

Abstract: The objective of this research is to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of EM computations using mortar methods and local refinement schemes. The method of moments in electromagnetics has traditionally suffered from a lack of robust error estimation and convergence bounds due to the numerical difficulties resulting from the method's reliance on singular Green's functions. These numerical difficulties have been a key impediment to the error-controlled solution of integral equations. This work will explore possible solutions to this difficulty through application of local error estimation methods and mortar-ing of nonconformal domains to facilitate refinement of computational geometries in order to achieve a desired level of accuracy.
