Belton on Price Hikes at Large Banks

There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. "It costs similar amounts to bank a person with five hundred or a thousand dollars as it does a person with ten thousand dollars," says Willie Belton, Associate Professor in the School of Economics. "So if it's going to cost the same amount, the ten thousand dollars is going to give the bank a lot more money to create earning assets."
