The National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health have asked two Georgia Tech faculty members to be part of a panel to do a worldwide assessment of research and development in the stem cell engineering field.
Bob Nerem, professor emeritus in mechanical engineering and director of Georgia Tech and Emory Center for Regenerative Medicine, and Todd McDevitt, associate professor of biomedical engineering and director of Georgia Tech's Stem Cell Engineering Center, will be two of the six members on the World Technology Evaluation Center panel.
The panel will travel throughout Europe and possibly Asia this year to see how the United States compares to other efforts worldwide and will make recommendations on how the U.S can move this field forward by investing strategically.
