Summaries

Summary Sentence: WST Lrn C dinner & team workshop with Dr. Mary Lynn Realff

Full Summary: Dr. Mary Lynn Realff, Associate Professor and MSE Faculty Fellow, and Associate Chair for Undergraduate Program in Material Sciences and Engineering will speak about her career and conduct an in-person workshop designed to improve how teams function.

WST Learning Community dinner and in-person workshop with Dr. Mary Lynn Realff, Associate Professor and MSE Faculty Fellow, and Associate Chair for Undergraduate Program in Material Sciences and Engineering
https://mse.gatech.edu/people/mary-lynn-realff

Personal Journey: Dr. Realff will share her journey from a small Georgia town where she was one of 138 graduates from her high-school (the only one in the county), to Georgia Tech, on to MIT and back to Georgia Tech as a faculty.  She will talk about her decisions along the way that have impacted not only herself and her family, but also the Georgia Tech community. For over 30 years, she has been advocating for students and keeping in touch with alumni.

Workshop: This in-person workshop will focus on how to get teammates to contribute more meaningfully to group projects or to student organizations. Most people don't appreciate that there are things that they are doing or not doing in teams that influence the contributions (good or bad) of their teammates. You will leave the workshop with specific things that you can do in the team to make it more effective and the workload more equitable.

Note: Interested GT students who do not reside in the WST Lrn C should email carol.colatrella@lmc.gatech.edu if they would like to attend.
