Stand-up

A short stand-up comedy show delivered by Zihan Lin, lecturer in the School of Modern Languages.

AAPI Panel

We invited faculty, staff, and Ph.D. Students from different cultures and asked them to talk about their culture shock, achievements, and how they fit into U.S. society and the GT community. We will have a Q&A session to interact with students and young academics. Faculty, staff, and Ph.D. Students will give contact info to the audience.

Topics of discussion include:

  • What kind of difficulties did you face when you came to the US/GT?
  • Did you have challenges, such as discrimination or inner struggles in the US or GT?
  • What is GT doing well to help you fit into the community?
  • What resources have you been using? Is there anything that GT can provide for other international students, staff, and faculty?
  • What is the difference between the academic environments from your previous cultural background and in the US? How did you handle the differences?
  • What about GT and other places you worked before? What are some of the cultural differences?
  • Did you have mental challenges as an immigrant or AAPI member, and how did you manage that?
  • Have you ever struggled with being your authentic self or your identity in any arena, such as in the workplace, your family/friend circle, or within your surrounding community? Did you have Imposter Syndrome?
  • What is one piece of advice that you would give to your younger self and the GT international students?
