The EDE Summer Institute is a University of Chicago program hosted by the Becker Friedman Institute designed to identify and support talented undergraduate students from a broad range of backgrounds interested in the study of economics. Quentin Johnson

Director of Diversity and Inclusion Programs and EDE Program Director, Becker Friedman Institute for Economics

Bringing almost 20 years of national and international experience in diversity education, outreach, recruiting, and talent development, Johnson leads the EDE team in integrating UChicago faculty, guest speakers, and skills training to motivate the next generation of leaders to their fullest potential.

Apueela Wekulom

2022 EDE Participant; Fourth-year Economics and International Affairs major, Georgia Institute of Technology

Currently serving as the Economics Club Recruitment Chair and Secretary for the African Student Association, Wekulom's interest in economics research was sparked after a semester-long guided research project. This motivated her to successfully apply to EDE and share her experience and path in economics.
