Speaker: Pat Woowong
Speaker’s Title: Director Data Science
Speaker’s Affiliation: The Home Depot
Seminar Title: Data Science
Abstract of Talk: It was once my dream to work at one of the big semiconductor companies at the time (Nvidia, AMD & Intel). As luck would have it none of them were hiring when I graduated in 2007. I will walk through my journey of how I became a Director at Home Depot taking a very non-traditional path after graduating from GT with a CompE degree.
Biographical Sketch of the Speaker: Pat graduated from GT in 2007 with degree Computer Engineering. He has worked at only two companies since graduation which is exceedingly rare for someone who graduated 14 years ago. Initially he started working for a defense contractor developing RADAR operating systems. After only 2 years there he was recruited to work as a software engineer at Home Depot and has had many roles across the entire organization. He currently serves as Director of Data Science in Home Depot’s Home Services business.
Over the years he’s built many systems across Home Depot some of which have been featured at the Google Cloud Next conference. He loves to travel with his wife Diana and daughter Natalie. He’s also an avid home automation enthusiast and generally loves building things.
