There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups.   • Congratulations to CSE Ph.D. student Srinivas Eswar for being awarded the J.H. Wilkinson Postdoctoral Fellowship in Scientific Computing at Argonne National Laboratory! The fellowship is given to one applicant per year in which the appointment lasts for one year and may be renewed for another.
  • Welcome the newest member of our faculty, Victor Chung! Victor comes to us from Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he was the Eugene P. Wigner Fellow at the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences!
  • Congratulations to CSE Assistant Professor Spencer Bryngelson for receiving a 2022 ORAU Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award! Bryngelson is one of 41 awardees amongst 155 applicants to receive the award totaling $10,000.
  • CSE Assistant Professor Srijan Kumar gave a virtual talk May 24. Kumar presented Advances in Data Science for Web Safety and Integrity to an audience from Northwestern University.
  • CSE Ph.D. student Sara Karamati, CS Senior Research Scientist Jeff Young, and CSE Professor Rich Vuduc presented "Smarter" NICs for Faster Molecular Dynamics: A Case Study at IEEE IPDPS 2022 as a best paper finalist! Although the research team didn’t win best paper, they well-represented the Institute as one of two papers from Georgia Tech in a panel of five finalists.
  • CSE Assistant Professor Srijan Kumar’s Q&A Fighting Hate Speech and Misinformation Online published in May’s edition of Nature Computational Science. The journal initially posted the interview May 1 to discuss misinformation and anti-Asian hate speech for the start of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
  • CSE Ph.D. student Xiaojing An and CSE Professor Ümit Çatalyürek co-authored BOA: A Partitioned View of Genome Assembly, published May 24!
  • CSE Professor Edmond Chow co-authored Pseudodiagonalization Method for Accelerating Nonlinear Subspace Diagonalization in Density Functional Theory, published in American Chemistry Society publications May 24.
  • Check out the latest edition of The Compiler for current news across the College of Computing.
  • PACE is hosting an online seminar on introduction to Git Monday, June 6, 10:30am – 12:15pm. Registration at the event website is required for attendance.
  • PACE is hosting an online seminar on Python 101 Wednesday, June 8, 1:30pm – 3:15pm. Registration at the event website is required for attendance.
  • Campus network disaster recovery testing will disable Phoenix, Hive, PACE-ICE, and COC-ICE from 5:00pm on Friday, June 10, through 12:00 noon on Monday, June 13.
