Full Summary: Clinical Trials in Today's Challenging Environment:  Sponsor, Institutional & CRO PerspectivesLuncheon on May 18, 2011

Clinical trials are an essential part of the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. Recent regulatory and business climate changes have made the conduct of large, complex trials more challenging.

This symposium will provide perspectives by exploring a long, randomized clinical trial conducted by CardioMEMS at the Piedmont Heart Institute. The successful CHAMPION clinical study of CardioMEMS’s wireless, implantable pressure monitor for heart failure enrolled 550 patients nationwide and reduced by 30% heart failure hospitalization rates in patients whose treatment was guided by CardioMEMs’s device.

Panel Speakers:

Demetrius Carter, MBA, PMP, Director, Project Services, Global Central Laboratories-Americas, Quintiles Patrick Hennessy, MD, Corporate Director of Research, PHC Office of Research Services, Piedmont Healthcare Nirav Raval, MD, Principal Investigator for the CardioMEMS study at Piedmont Heart Institute Charles Wilmer, MD, Chairman of the Innovation Center at Piedmont Heart Institute Jay Yadav, MD, CEO of CardioMEMS
