Congratulations to School of Economics Ph.D. student Jancy Ling Liu, who won the 2021-2022 Atlanta Economics Club Joseph K. Heyman Scholarship! Liu said she plans to use the funds to present her work at conferences and gain valuable feedback.
"I am interested in applying behavioral science and applied microeconomics methodologies to solve empirical environmental issues," Liu said. "My current project relates to the effects of social norms on green consumption."
Her goal is to help eco-labels fulfill their promises to cooperate with the power of markets, educate and persuade consumers, lead to changes and positive competition in the production process, and eventually lead to environmental improvements.
In addition to the scholarship funds, Liu also received a year-long membership in the Atlanta Economics Club. Previous winners of the Joseph K. Heyman Scholarship include School of Economics undergraduate student Sarah Tinsley and master's student Fernanda Arcaraz.
