2022 PRE-TEACHING & GIFT PROGRAM INTERNSHIP INFORMATION
Application deadline: May 23, 2022 by 11:59pm
The Pre-Teaching GIFT Program internship is through Georgia Tech Pre-Teaching Advising and the CEISMC Georgia Intern Fellowships for Teachers (GIFT) program. The GIFT program places K12 teachers in hands-on internships for 4-7 weeks across the summer to gain laboratory experience in the STEM content area they teach. For example, a high school Chemistry teacher is in the GIFT program in a GT Chemistry lab. This internship is perfect for any undergrad curious about K12 education, considering K-12 teaching as a career choice, or who enjoys working with high school students.
The intern will work with a high school STEM teacher and students in a Georgia Tech lab. The intern will:
Assist the teacher in working with their students
Learn elements of writing K12 STEM curriculum
Assist the teacher in writing K12 curriculum based on the research done in the lab to be brought back to the K12 STEM classroom (discipline depends on internship)
Support the teacher and students in the lab as needed and as allowed by the lab supervisor/lab director
The specific labs are:
Dr. Alper Erturk | Mechanical Engineering - www.me.gatech.edu/faculty/erturk
Dr. Michael Leamy | Mechanical Engineering - https://www.me.gatech.edu/faculty/leamy
Dr. Omer Inan | Electrical & Computer Engineering - www.ece.gatech.edu/faculty-staff-directory/omer-t-inan

Dates of internship: June 14 – July 22, 2022
Hours: 5 hours/day, Mon – Fri, in-person, total of 25 hours per week (specific hours to be determined)
Pay: $10/hour, 25 hours/week@ $250/week x 6 weeks = $1500
