Care to see what the next generation of architects and urban designers have in mind for metro Atlanta (we may throw in some plans for Augusta too!)

Want to see how they’re raising the bar on ecological urbanism, suburban retrofitting, and downtown revitalization?

All are welcome to view the work and chat with students in Perry Yang, Richard Dagenhart, and Ellen Dunham-Jones’ studios to see what the next generation of architects and urban designers have in mind for metro Atlanta (and Augusta) and how they’re raising the bar on ecological urbanism, retrofitting suburbia and downtown revitalization:

  • ecologically driven designs for a knowledge-based Midtown-Georgia Tech “technopolis”
  • redevelopment proposals for the Harrisburg neighborhood of Augusta, GA
  • water fountains and public spaces along Peachtree Street to raise consciousness of Atlanta’s water crisis
  • renewable energy networks using vacant lots
  • housing inside North Dekalb Mall with attention to reducing waste
  • aggregating backyards to provide services to ease aging-in-place
  • urban ag in Griffin, GA
  • requiring all parking to be on-street parking that contributes to public space, applied to North Lake Mall
  • retrofitting Buford Highway in Doraville with district energy, water, and food systems
  • income-generating housing designs and masterplan at the Bankhead MARTA stop
  • integration of BRT stations with public space and redevelopment, applied near South Dekalb Mall
  • development of an Urban Information Modeling system, similar to BIM, applied to Lawrenceville
  • multi-generational housing integrated with bicycling inside the Cumberland CID Green TOD plan
  • integration of a health and wellness clinic and preventive healthcare activities into and around Gwinnett Place Mall
  • strategies for increasing benefits for existing residents through the redevelopment of Union City Mall
