"I would go to three outside sources and have them run a set of numbers and I would compare them," said Economics Professor Christine Ries. Ries said that the state must find other sources for tax data if [Georgia] lawmakers are to take up a tax overhaul in the future. Ries was responding to news that Georgia legislative staffers asked economists at the Georgia State University Fiscal Reseach Center to rework estimates of what Georgia's Tax Reform Plan would do to individual tax bills and the state's revenue projections nearly 40 times in the final two weeks of the legislative session.
