Research Papers Club is excited to host Dr. Matt McDowell for a talk on "Writing Effective Scientific Papers: Tips and Tricks" which will be held on Wednesday, April 6th, from 11 AM to 12 PM in Classroom N210, Howey Physics.

After earning his B.S. at Georgia Tech, Ph.D. at Stanford, and working as a post-doc at CalTech, Dr. Matt McDowell joined back Georgia Tech in 2015 as an assistant professor with joint appointments in both the MSE and ME departments. He was promoted to an associate professor and Woodruff Faculty Fellow in 2021. Over the past years, he has published nearly 100 research papers in reputed scientific journals including Nature Materials, Nature Nanotechnology, Advanced Materials, etc. He has also earned many prestigious awards including the NSF CAREER Award, NASA Early Career Award, and Georgia Tech Alumni Association 40 Under 40 Award. During his talk, he will be sharing some of his wisdom to help us improve the impact of our own research papers.
