About Marius Florin Niculescu

Dr. Marius Florin Niculescu joined the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business after completing his Ph.D. in operations information and technology at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. His research focuses on the economics of information systems, IT security, software freemium and seeding business models, network economics, management and diffusion of IT products and services, and open platform innovation, among other technology-based subjects. His research has been published in Management Science, Information Systems Research, and Management Information Systems Quarterly, and has been presented at numerous conferences in the field and research seminars at peer universities.

Dr. Niculescu received the Brady Family Award for Faculty Teaching Excellence, Linda and Lloyd L. Byars Award for Faculty Excellence, and the Brady Family Award for Faculty Research Excellence. He also received the ISS Sandra A. Slaughter Early Career Award and was one of Poets&Quants’ 2019 Best 40 Under 40 Professors.

He also received the Full-time MBA Core Professor of the Year Award for three years in a row, the Evening MBA Core Professor of the Year Award, and the CETL/BP America Junior Faculty Teaching Award at Georgia Tech.

Dr. Niculescu is the academic director for the Executive Education Technology Development Program for the Bank of America and a faculty council member on the Information Security and Privacy Interdisciplinary Research Institute at Georgia Tech.
