There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Join energy experts from Georgia Tech, Southern Company Services, and Georgia Power to learn more about the new Tech Square Microgrid, intended to be a “living laboratory” for demonstration, education, research, and collaboration. This cutting-edge infrastructure asset is a working microgrid that connects to the Georgia Power grid and serves electricity loads in the High Performance Computing Center (HPCC) that is part of the CODA building complex.

In this 90 minute workshop, the organizers will provide an overview of the specifics of the physical microgrid and its controls, discuss the possible research uses of the system, and preview how data will be accessed and used by the GT Community. Engineers involved with the design and operation of the system will be on hand to answer technical questions and give feedback on ideas from the audience. The meeting will be hosted face-to-face in the CODA building, with the option to attend virtually.

Afterwards, two blocks away at the actual microgrid site, an optional tour (20-30 minutes) will give the audience a chance to see the facility in person. An informal gathering will follow (details forthcoming).
