Roman GrigorievSix College of Sciences researchers are among 19 Georgia Tech faculty and students receiving 2022 Research Awards from the Georgia Tech chapter of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society.
Sigma Xi’s mission is “to enhance the health of the research enterprise, foster integrity in science and engineering, and promote the public’s understanding of science for the purpose of improving the human condition.”
Two College of Sciences researchers won the Best Faculty Paper Award:
Roman Grigoriev, professor in the School of Physics
Nga Lee (Sally) Ng, professor in the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences with a joint appointment in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
Grigoriev won for the paper, “Robust learning from noisy, incomplete, high-dimensional experimental data via physically constrained symbolic regression.” The study appeared in Nature Communications.
Ng won for four papers:
“Evaluation of particle filtration efficiency of commercially available materials for homemade face mask usage,” Aerosol Science and Technology.
“In-flight particulate matter concentrations in commercial flights are likely lower than other indoor environments,” Indoor Air.
“Formation of Oxidized Gases and Secondary Organic Aerosol from a Commercial Oxidant-Generating Electronic Air Cleaner,” Environmental Science and Technology Letters.
“Room-level ventilation in schools and universities,” ChemRxiv.
Four College of Sciences graduate students are also recognized.
