There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. GaP Seminar Series

Presenting:

Kevin Yang - Advisor, Gilda Barabino

"Controlled Culture and Chondrogenic Differentiation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells"

Challenges to control differentiation of bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) into a more specialized cell lineage remain. We evaluate the feasibility of the induction of MSC chondrogenic differentiation by the soluble factors secreted by primary chondrocytes through coculture of the two cell populations in a serum-free, growth factor-free environment.

Tae Lee - Advisor, Joshua Weitz

"Understanding the Interaction between Promoters in Proximity"

Promoters in proximity demonstrate unique properties that may be important in biology and engineering, but how these properties arise remains elusive. To understand this better, we investigate how promoters interact in proximity.

The Graduate and Post-Doc (GaP) Seminar Series is a weekly event of biotechnology related research presentations by two graduate students or post-docs of IBB and is co-sponsored by BME. It is held every Wednesday at 12:00pm in IBB 1128 and refreshments are provided. If your research group or department would like to present at future seminars, please contact Manu Platt, PhD at manu.platt@bme.gatech.edu.
